Hybrid Locomotives For North America

The company Bombardier has won a tender worth of 485 million dollars to provide hybrid engines for public transport in New Jersey and Montreal. The new locomotives able to work both with fossil fuels as well as electricity are a premiere in North America.

New Jersey Transit Corporation will receive 26 locomotives for passenger trains. The new acquisitions have cost 262 million dollars with the option that will buy another 63 locomotives.

Metropolitan Transportation Agency from Montreal ordered 20 locomotives for the amount of 223 million dollars, in the future having to buy another ten.

In July, Bombardier space division from Northern Ireland announced that reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 69% from 2001 until now.
