Tokyo Will Have 200 Rechargeable Stations for Electric Cars

The Japanese company Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) intends to establish over 200 rechargeable stations for electric cars in the capital of Japan next year, according to Nikkei newspaper.

TEPCO has developed a device that power an electric car enough to traverse 40 kilometers after it was charge for five minutes and 60 km after a load of 10 minutes.

Auto manufacturers Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Motors are preparing to launch electric cars this year. According to the newspaper, auto dealers Subaru and Mitsubishi Motors have agreed to have rechargeable TEPCO stations in their stores, while the supermarket chain Aeon-intends to admit the stations in several facilities. Also, TEPCO will set up rechargeable stations in parks, in the front of profile stores, banks and post offices until 2010. The company intends that in three years the number of power stations to reach 1,000.
