The new vehicle is fast, cheap, efficient in terms of energy and not polluting. The vehicle run on overhead rails and has no driver.

The car, called "podcar", will operate on a narrow rail created especially for it. The "podcar" system will have specially equipped stations, where cars will be called to order, like a taxi.

The new vehicle operates on electricity and can traverse seven kilometers in 12 minutes. This vehicle has no driver, but is controlled by a computer. In this way, the danger of production accidents is reduced to maximum. Further, as a result of automation, the costs are significantly reduced, making the "podcar" system to be accessible for all.

According to "Los Angeles Times", the building of a "podcar" system can cost up to 12 times less than that of a railway system. The special rail network, along with vehicles and stations can reach 25 to 40 million dollars per mile (1.6 kilometers) compared with 100 to 300 million dollars as a normal railroads system would cost. A similar system is being build on Heathrow Airport in London.

Vehicles will carry about 11,000 passengers per day. Such cars will be used in Masdar, the famous green city that United Arab Emirates intends to transform it into the first city with zero emissions of carbon dioxide.
