Mercedes Launches First Series Hybrid

Mercedes will launch its first car with a hybrid propulsion system in the summer of 2009. It's called S400 BlueHybrid and is equipped with a V6 engine on gasoline and an electric motor. The combination between these make this car to be the most economical luxury car.

The mixed consumption is 7.9 litres of gasoline per 100 km. This help in getting the lowest CO2 emissions from its class, only 190 grams C02/km. Consumption is 2.2 liters per 100 km lower against S350 model from which was start, and CO2 emissions are reduced by 21%.

The luxury car can achieve with the help of additional power obtained from electric engine, a maximum speed of 250 km per hour, electronically limited.

S400 BlueHYBRID is the first series hybrid equipped with lithium-ion batteries developed specifically for vehicles.
