"Concept Ice Vehicle" Powered by Biofuel
01 September, 2008
An auto manufacturer has revealed a concept vehicle on the ice which resists temperatures of -72 degrees Celsius, going with a speed of up to 134 km per hour and is friendly with the environment at the same time.
The new Lotus ice vehicle which goes on biofuel, will be tested on a distance of 4,800 km in Antarctica. 1150 BMW motorcycle engine adapted emit by approximately 70% less greenhouse gas emissions then petrol.
"Antarctica remains one of the greatest mysteries of the world," said Kieron Bradley, an ex Formula 1 designer who built the vehicle.
At first view, the vehicle is similar to a helicopter with three legs. This has a radar which allows it to detect the sections with thin ice that measure only 350 kg thus allowing the crew to push manually in abrupt areas.
