Tacoma Power Company will invest 15 million dollars in credits for renewable energy from Iberdrola Renewables. The contract will start in 2012 and will remain in force until the end of 2019. The credits for renewable energy will come from Iberdrola Renewables project to generate wind power.

Acquisition will help the company to abide by Initiative 937, in which 15% of usefulness energy to result from renewable sources until 2020. The law allows too, companies to buy renewable energy credits instead to buy renewable energy.

Tacoma Power Company said that because it does not require an additional generator of electricity, the purchase of renewable energy credits is the perfect financial solution for utilities as well as for the client.
