Porsche Change Engines For The Environment Good
10 September, 2008
Porsche announced that will change the its engine architecture, from six cylinders to four cylinders boxer, if it will prove that this measure is necessary to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Porsche advantage is that as the six-cylinder engines, of the model 911, are designed by German engineers so that it can be changed in the units with four cylinders, without excessive changes in their architecture.
"With all that the 911 models and Boxter models are recognized for the six-cylinder engines and our goal is to keep the same architecture, we can reduce the number of cylinders if this will be necessary. But currently we have no plans in this direction," said an Porsche representative.
A large part of the Porsche history is related to the use of engines with four cylinders. A large part of the legendary models produced by the manufacturer from Sttutgart were noted by the use of such units, the most conclusive examples being the model 356.
